The FASA Franchise Survey, sponsored by Sanlam, shows that South African franchise brands have expanded not only beyond our borders but also overseas, with some brands becoming household names. Most franchisors venture into sub-saharan Africa first, mostly in neighbouring states before venturing further afield. Those franchisors that do expand overseas choose English speaking countries with the Middle East growing in popularity.
