KFC Africa is a pan-Africa business with a presence across 22 markets in sub-Saharan Africa. We want to be a home filled with Bucketloads of Good for all. So, we are building KFC to reflect a world in which all people have an equal place to live and thrive. We do this for the more than 35 000 people we employ across Africa, the customers we love to serve, and the communities around us.
Investing in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging is vital for us, so our team members and their families have opportunities to develop their skills, further their careers, and gain quality education.
Such purpose is driven through our Add Hope and KFC Mini Cricket initiatives externally as well as internal upliftment programmes such as our Ikusasa Lethu scholarship, Women on the Move and other leadership generating projects.

KFC Mini-cricket is the largest grassroot development cricket programme in the country and gives aspiring youngsters aged between 3 and 12 their first taste of cricket. The programme delivers over 60 000 matches across the country annually, with over 13 000 volunteer coaches positively impacting the lives of over 120 000 children.
Similarly, the KFC Add Hope programme has been filling tummies since 2009, raising money through collections from KFC and R2 customer donations which go towards providing healthy and nutritious meals to children in need. To date, Add Hope has provided over 250 million meals – supporting more than 130 different non-profit organisations (NPOs).

As part of our inside-out approach to purpose, we launched the KFC Ikusasa Lethu scholarship programme that provides access to quality education to deserving learners whose parents work for a KFC restaurant and to children who are Add Hope beneficiaries across South Africa. This programme gives young learners the chance to not only access quality and private education at a Curro, but also take a step towards making their career dreams a reality.

The end objective lead back to a very sincere intention that we are committed to: To make a genuine change in the world, ensuring that KFC is honestly and wholeheartedly a brand that lives and breathes a purpose.

Partner with KFC to expand our African footprint

Africa remains ripe with opportunity—and as Africa’s largest Quick Service Restaurant and growth ignitor across the continent, KFC is looking to expand to meet ever-increasing demand. We are calling on landlords and property owners with vacant land or buildings to join us as we expand our already 1200 strong restaurant portfolio to boost our next phase of growth.

Every time we build a new KFC, we reinvigorate infrastructure, uplift communities, boost local economies, and create much-needed jobs. From enhancing roads and utilities to introducing technology upgrades like WiFi and point-of-sale systems, our footprint leaves a lasting impact.

Each restaurant creates an average of 30 direct jobs, provides a modern hub for communities to connect, and delivers high-quality meals made with the best ingredients. We’re on the lookout for prime locations that meet our proven success formula: drive-thru sites of 150–250 sqm, inline stores of at least 150 sqm, ideally situated in high-traffic retail nodes, shopping centres, transit routes, and fuel stations. Partner with us as we look to build Africa one restaurant at a time.

The first KFC restaurant to open in South Africa was in 1971 in Orange Grove, Johannesburg. In the over 52 years since, South Africa’s favourite has grown to over 1 200 restaurants across the country.

KFC’s Original Recipe® Chicken was first made by Colonel Harland Sanders in 1940 when he perfected his secret recipe of 11 herbs and spices at his restaurant in Kentucky. Today, KFC is the world’s most popular chicken restaurant, still preparing our chicken with the Colonel’s secret recipe to his exact standards.
