FASA to hold its 45th AGM – 29th February

FASA holds the distinction of being the only relevant franchise association in Africa (upholding 1st world business standards in a 3rd world environment) and is a long-standing member of the World Franchise Council. Through all this FASA has remained on course to ensure that franchising in South Africa remains steadfast in maintaining the highest ethical standards and upholds global standards. Acknowledged as the “global ambassador of small business”, franchising is a key business system that can contribute to wealth, growth and stability to the African continent. As with so many other representative associations, across different industries, its members join primarily to support their sector as a whole, commit to that industry’s ethical standards and get involved in initiatives that promote franchising as a viable and successful business format.

FASA’s Board of Directors

Franchising’s success globally has at its core the coming together of franchise brands to lay down ethical business practices and to promote the business format of franchising. Becoming a member of FASA is about committing to the ethical standards – both globally and locally – that set your brand apart as a bona fide business operation and using that platform to assure existing and prospective franchisees of your authenticity and commitment to running an ethical business.

The board of directors of FASA volunteer their time and expertise for a two-year period to help steer the association through the many challenges of operating businesses in a challenging environment, giving the necessary support and ensuring high visibility for franchising at large and its members in particular.

According to Maria D’Amico, FASA’s Chair, elected board members, both individually and acting as a collective, must at all times abide by the high standards expected of them. “When someone becomes a director they are expected to perform in good faith, in the best interests of the association and with a degree of care, skill and diligence that may reasonably be expected of such person, and if they do not then they can be accountable for any loss to the company that arose directly or indirectly from such conduct.”

The following members are continuing or have been proposed to serve on the FASA board.
