FASA Events an opportunity to grow your network in franchising

Whether you are a member of FASA, a business owner looking to franchise your business, a franchisee wanting to network with your peers or a member of the public wanting to learn more about FASA and franchising, then FASA’s events are a must-attend.

Monthly Virtual Networking Events

Each month FASA’s Digital, Romany Thresher hosts an on-line networking event that brings together people across the spectrum of business – all with the common purpose of engaging with others on topics that will benefit themselves and their businesses.

“In the dynamic landscape of modern business, success isn’t just about what you know, but who you know,” says Romany Thresher. “Networking isn’t merely a buzzword; it’s the lifeblood of thriving enterprises. In the interconnected global market, forging meaningful relationships isn’t a choice; it’s a strategic imperative. Your network isn’t just a list of names; it’s a web of possibilities, a reservoir of support, and a treasure trove of opportunities waiting to be explored. It’s the bridge between your expertise and the world, where ideas are exchanged, collaborations are born, and innovations take flight. Through strategic networking, you open doors to new partnerships, innovative ideas, and valuable mentorship that can catapult your business to unprecedented heights. Embrace the power of networking; it’s not just a handshake, but a gateway to a world where the potential for growth and success knows no bounds.”

Covering subjects crucial to understanding how franchising works – from whether your business is franchiseable, to the legal implications of getting into franchising, to the funding options out there in the marketplace – the monthly networking also profiles some of FASA’s top franchise brands and allows everyone to introduce themselves, interact and pick up some valuable contacts. Roadshow Breakfast events

For those who prefer face-to-face interactions, FASA’s Roadshow Breakfast Events are well underway around the country, with successful events already held in Cape Town, Eastern Cape, Durban and Boksburg, with more to follow in Pretoria, Mpumalanga and North-West.

Sponsored by some of the top financial banks, including Absa, Old Mutual & Capitec – who all have dedicated franchise desks – these get-togethers allow the public as well as franchisors and franchisees based in the various provinces to interact and share their experiences first-hand. FASA’s CEO, Fred Makgato and Chair, Maria D’Amico give background presentations on the work that FASA does to promote ethical franchising and outline the important legal and operational requirements that make up a good franchise. Established franchisors and franchisees are often on hand to share their franchise journeys as well as outline the challenges – and rewards – that go with running a franchise business system.

As one of FASA’s top priorities is to engage with government on both a national and provincial level, many of the departments of economic development countrywide, with whom FASA is building strong partnerships, attend the events. This, according to Fred Makgato, FASA’s CEO is crucial to educating and encouraging government entities to incorporate franchising into their initiatives. “With Government committed to allocating large training and empowerment funds to be utilized for improving the plight of the majority of South Africans, FASA is working with government and the business community to stimulate new business concepts, encourage entrepreneurship, play a part in skills development and more importantly create jobs.”

It’s not just all work and no play for FASA members

Taking some time off to network with colleagues and peers is a FASA tradition and the annual golf day has become a highlight of the FASA calendar and which this year takes place on Friday 4th October at Randpark Golf Club. Organiser Shereen Davids has added a new and exciting addition to this event – specifically for the non-golfers. “Over the years,” says Shereen, “we have been aware that many people have been excluded from taking part in the day as they are not golfers. With the growing popularity of Padel which many of the country clubs have introduced, we have been able to offer both a golf and Padel day to our members, their franchisees and suppliers.”
