FASA joins the world in celebrating World Franchise Day on June 11th

This year’s World Franchise Day is on June 11, 2025 and FASA is proud to celebrate alongside other franchise associations around the world by putting the focus on the success story of franchising and hosting a celebratory event on the 11th June for its members, sponsored by Old Mutual.

World Franchise Day is a worldwide celebration of the franchise business model, which will unite citizens from across the globe in recognizing the efforts of franchise business owners and the important role they play in their communities. Created by the World Franchise Council, which is comprised of forty member associations from around the world, including the Franchise Association of South Africa – one of the first countries to join and who remains an active member.

It’s a global initiative to celebrate the franchising industry and the positive impact it has on economies and individuals worldwide. The World Franchise Council launched this day to highlight the significance of franchising and its success as a global business format that celebrates the impact of franchising on communities around the world, increasing awareness of the franchise business model and highlighting franchisees as local small business owners who contribute to their local economies.

Franchising empowers local entrepreneurs to thrive while benefiting from the support of an established system. Working tirelessly to drive economic growth and create job opportunities in their communities, franchisees embody the true spirit of entrepreneurship, using innovation, dedication, and hard work to succeed. What sets franchising apart is its unique model, allowing entrepreneurs to be in business for themselves, but not by themselves, with access to mentorship, training, and operational support that sets them up for success.

For the past forty-six years FASA has, whilst supporting entrepreneurship that has made franchising a major contributor to the economy (15% of GDP), recommitted to making franchising more inclusive as a proven model of small business success.
